HELL IS EMPTY, that's because Conrad Williams is here instead, guest blogging...

Blog tours are great, aren't they, it's like a guest appearance on a TV show, say BBC's the one show, where inbetween stories about migrating bats, a sinkhole in peckham and a fun way of eating food via chopsticks they bring on a guest to talk about what they're upto, today we have the pleasure of Conrad Williams who is on one of these kind of Blog tours, guesting on people's blogs and he doesn't have to drive to a studio or pretend to chat to people he don't really like. WE LOVE IT...

WHO THE BLOODY HELL IS CONRAD WILLIAMS?

Conrad Williams has written eight novels, four novellas and two short story collections. One won the August Derleth award for Best Novel in 2010, while The Unblemished won the International Horror Guild Award for Best Novel in 2007 (he beat the shortlisted Stephen King on both occasions). He won the British Fantasy Award for Best Newcomer in 1993, and another British Fantasy Award for Best Novella (The Scalding Rooms) in 2008. His work has also been shortlisted for the Shirley Jackson Award and the Crime Writers’ Association Daggers.

Conrad's topic on this particular leg of this particular blog tour is all about locations, why he chooses certain locations and so on, enjoy!!

DO GHOST HUNTERS EVER RETIRE? OR DOES THE HUNTER BECOME THE HUNTED?

K2 - THE GHOST HUNTER'S WEAPON??
Paranormal people of the world, listen up... have you ever thought of ditching the dowsing rods, selling the spirit box or kicking the K2 Meters into touch? Or will it be a case of one weekend you're calling out for contact and the weekend after you're whispering ghostly thoughts to yourself  saying "i knew ghosts were real" as you try and throw a marble at someone you didn't particularly like in your team when you were alive....
"Have you made plans to retire from the paranormal, have you thought about where you will spend your ever greying haired golden years?"

AYUP ME DUCKS!! CAN GHOSTS UNDERSTANDS WHAT THE CHUFF WE'RE TALKING ABOUT?

JUST LET ME FEAST ON THIS NUGGET FIRST THOUGH
Can a posh ghost understand a paranormal group from t'North? You may laugh (or as they say in poshville, you may "guffaw"), but think about it, you're at this beautiful location, an old castle where Henry VIII once lived, he's there (in spirit) watching you, observing you, having a right royal look around when one of you pipes up "ayup King H, mek a noise, do summat, touch one of us mi duck". Can you imagine the startled look on his chubby bearded face, the bewilderment, the shock...  he'd probably drop down as dead as a doornail, if he wasn't already dead.

PARANORMAL PAUL PERFORMS POPULAR PONGY PERFUME PARODY

Comedian, panto legend and lover of the paranormal Paul O’Grady has landed a starring role in 2016’s cheekiest Christmas video. Inspired by the nation’s worst Yuletide stenches, household odour eliminator Febreze has partnered with O’Grady to release a short parody film called 12 Stinks of Christmas.
In the film, Paul reluctantly dons a dashing elf costume and, supported by vocals from The London Community Gospel Choir, recounts the smells which torment us at Christmas. These include cheap perfumes, sweaty Santa suits and, of course, turkey curries. It even features a cameo from Paul’s beloved dog Olga.
Christmas is a time for festive cheer, but it’s not without its irritations. Research by Febreze revealed cleaning up after the carnage of Christmas Day, guests who overstay their welcome and unpleasant festive smells are the top bah humbugs for Scrooges across the country.

YORK HAS THE MOST HELPFUL GHOSTS!! (probably)...

THREE HAPPY GHOSTS FROM YORK
York is the UK city with the best community spirit – and Wolverhampton has the WORST, according to new research.

Hull was voted the second most neighbourly city, ahead of Hull, Belfast, Derby, Plymouth, Wrexham, Newcastle, Swansea, Cardiff and Glasgow.

While at the other end of the friendliness chart, Wolverhampton was followed by Portsmouth, Preston, Milton Keynes, Nottingham, Southampton, Cambridge, Liverpool, Oxford and Lincoln.

VR PARANORMAL, the future of Ghost Hunting??

Hey, we aren't fortune tellers at Haunted Magazine, although cross my palm with four of those new £5 notes and we'll gladly do you a reading.

But what would that reading consist of:

Would we declare that the paranormal world will finally see an inner calm of peace and tranquillity from the people involved in the paranormal world?

Would we say that in 2017 a whistle blower ghost will finally spill the beans on the paranormal from their side, admitting that they're just mucking about and when your K2 meter goes wappy it's actually them holding their ghost phones next to it?

A LONG TIME AGO in a village in Hertfordshire just off the M1...

1976 to be precise there was a studio in this village called Elstree, some sci-fi film was being made there by a director whose first name was George, it left behind a legacy. That film was Star Wars, that director was George Lucas. Ringing any bells now?

So what is ELSTREE 1976, well in truth ELSTREE 1976 is a documentary about the effect that Star Wars had on the lives of those involved in even the slightest of roles.
Star Wars made stars out of actors like Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher but there were many characters who had their faces hidden behind masks and helmets! No one would believe that this would go on to colour their lives even four decades later. ELSTREE 1976 gets in touch with some of the actors who made Star Wars what it was, but who are mostly invisible to the public at large. Some of the actors are just a step up from being extras, while others are featured players whose faces were hidden behind the masks that captured the imaginations of generations of viewers.

EVERYTHING YOU WANT TO KNOW ABOUT HALLOWEEN BUT CAN'T BE BOTHERED TO ASK?

GOT THE HALLOWEEN BLUES? SUFFERING FROM A HALLOWEEN HANGOVER? MISSING KIDS KNOCKING ON YOUR DOOR ASKING FOR SOME SHERBET DIP?

Well fear not cos here at Haunted Magazine, we have come up with the perfect antidote, the perfect prescribed paranormal paracetamol, an alternative and definitive history of Halloween, who started it, why is it still happening, what have those crazy Americans got to do with it and other stuff like that?

IT'S TIME FOR A PARANORMAL BLOGDOWN WITH THE STARS OF PARANORMAL LOCKDOWN

When a haunted house in the UK attracts the attention of two really famous paranormal investigators from the USA, you know that there's something pretty special about the location.

30 East Drive is probably THE most talked about haunted location in 2016, it divides more people in the paranormal world than ever before. Week in, week out dozens of paranormal investigators walk into this house expecting the unexpected, or some might say, unexpecting the expected, such is the current levels of activity in this place.

The beauty of 30 East Drive, is that it is not a castle with a history of bloody battles, sieges and Kings and Queen, nor is it a 14th Century Coaching Inn with hundreds and hundreds of years of legends, tales and urban myths, this is a council house, on a council estate.

THE EXORCIST HEAD SPIN SPINS OUT MORE PEOPLE'S HEADS, DO YOU AGREE?

With scary season in full swing, hmv.com have surveyed 2,000 people to get the definitive take on the scariest horror film scenes of the past six decades. The survey, conducted by OnePoll, found that the spine-chilling head spin scene from The Exorcist was the most frightening moment in the history of horror. Classics like Psycho, Carrie and The Shining also picked up a substantial share of the votes.

Observance is a twitchy, icky, genuinely unsettling psychological thriller about a private investigator who takes on what appears to be a simple, well-paying job. From a derelict apartment across the street, all Parker (Lindsay Farris) is employed to do is spy on a woman and report daily updates over the phone to his employer (voiced by Brendan Cowell). Things aren’t as they seem, as these things often go, and Parker – traumatised by the recent death of his young son – spirals into confusion, delusion and possibly madness.

Celebrity Haunted Hotel promises to be DEAD good..

If you think eating the anus of a Kangaroo is a tough call for a celebrity then spare a thought for the unfortunate ones checking into the "Celebrity Haunted Hotel", a new paranormal TV show, aired LIVE on W for 5 nights from Thursday the 27th of October culminating in a finale on (of course) Halloween Night.

There is something pleasantly satisfying in seeing celebrities genuinely spooked, well we at Haunted Magazine think so.

Just in case you don't know who is who, Christine is in the
middle and Jamie is the one with the "i'm not scared of ghosts"
beard, Matt is the one with the "i'm not scared of ghosts" arms
folded pose. WHO ARE YOU TRYING TO KID??
W, UKTV's premium entertainment channel has just announced an ambitious live show fronted by Christine Lampard (Dancing On Ice, The One Show), Matt Richardson (Xtra Factor, Virgin Radio) and Jamie East (Thronecast, Big Brother's Bit on The Side), Celebrity Haunted Hotel Live. Celebrity guests will check in each night to what's been dubbed Britain's spookiest hotel starting on Thursday 27 October at 9pm and culminating with a finale on Halloween.

Celebrity Haunted Hotel Live is a brand new entertainment show stripped over five nights combining hilarious celebrity sleepovers, terrifying tasks, gripping ghost stories and edge-of-seat paranormal investigations, all set within a village famous for its ghostly goings-on.

Christine Lampard with co-hosts Matt Richardson and Jamie East, check in a new batch of celebrities nightly. Guests brave enough to stay in the ghost-ridden lodgings will be under the control of viewers. Celebrities will be voted to take part in nail-biting and riotous live investigations, experiments and group events while exploring each episode's gruesome ghost story theme. Jamie will be updating live from the interactive hub (note: Jamie does love his interactive hubs, doesn't he?), within the hotel grounds.

DID YOU ORDER
ROOM SERVICE?
"Five nights in the UK's spookiest hotel with some great celebrity guests over Halloween - what could possibly go wrong?!" - Christine Lampard
Matt Richardson will also host companion show Celebrity Haunted Hotel Live: Do Not Disturb, at 6pm nightly from Friday 28th October, giving viewers a chance to catch-up on the previous night's eerie occurrences and challenges and set the scene for the evening show.

WHO WILL LOOK BETTER IN
BLUE, MATT OR JAMIE?
"What better way to spend Halloween than in a Haunted Hotel, I'm looking forward to checking in our guests and seeing how they cope with a stay in Britain's spookiest hotel. With Christine as Jack Nicholson and Jamie and I as the twins, it'll be like an English shining" - Matt Richardson

TURN THIS UPSIDE DOWN AND IT BECOMES "M".
HOW SPOOKY IS THAT?
"A  completely new, exciting format is an extremely rare thing in TV. I can't wait to work with Christine - she's one of the biggest and best names in presenting and I'm a huge fan. I see Matt Richardson every day at Virgin Radio, so the novelty has worn off there I must admit" - Jamie East

UKTV executive producer, Helen Nightingale said, "This is a spooky addition to W's growing slate of original content - an entertainment event set in the darkest of places; perfect for Halloween. With a whole host of celebrities to frighten, W viewers will be gripped by the unfolding nightly action"
Steve North, W's general manager, added, "We are excited to be broadening the shows on W even further with a live, nightly entertainment event for Halloween.   Set in Britain's spookiest village, Celebrity Haunted Hotel Live combines interactive challenges with a ghostly setting. I can't wait to see how brave our celebrities really are"
North One executive producer John Quinn added "It's a beautiful location, but does take on a very different feel by night. Combining that setting with a strong cast of familiar celebrity faces, as well as some young, fresh talent, who'll undertake some never-seen-before paranormal investigation using cutting edge technology, this appeals both to long-time fans of the genre and those viewers who just love entertaining reality TV"
Haunted Magazine can't wait for this, we've always said that the paranormal is entertainment, should be entertainment and needs to be entertainment. The celebrities, who ever they may be, are in for the night of their lives. If they pack their Holy Water, their cloves of Garlic and a spare pair of underwear, they should be OK?

BLINK AND YOU WILL MISS THIS BLOG POST!!

With the Sixth Season of The Walking Dead leaving us on a massive cliff-hanger, the question we’re all asking ourselves is “who did Negan off?” Unfortunately Haunted Magazine can’t answer that but we may be able to answer a few others like “why aren’t Walkers allowed to blink?” and “how do they all happen to have the same walk?” Well, to celebrate the home entertainment release of The Walking Dead: The Complete Sixth Season which will be hitting shelves on Blu-ray™ and DVD from 26th September we now have all the answers. Here are 10 things you probably didn’t know about The Walking Dead...

Issue 16 - Women in Paranormal!

Please be patient whilst the magazine loads.

Women, women, women, you can't live with them but you can get them to write the features for Haunted Magazine Issue 16, and like a female version of Postman Pat, they have delivered.

This issue we are celebrating girly ghosthunters, spooky sisters and the women of the Paranormal world, from Lorraine Warren writing our editorial to the new Ghostbusters to the The Living and the Dead, this i
ssue is crammed with more females than you'd find in the lift to the Chippendale's VIP
Party.

We expected emotion, passion, humour and spookiness and we got emotion, passion, humour and spookiness AND so much more.

There may be no proof that ghosts exist but we can say without a shadow of a doubt that Men are from Mars and Women are from Haunted Magazine.

And remember. #dontbenormal - BE PARANORMAL!

"WE ARE GOING TO NEED A BIGGER BLOG!!"

DOLPH IN SHARK LAKE!!
(no it's not a spelling mistake ... read on)

Since Steven Spielberg’s Jaws took a chunk out of the box-office in 1975, shark films have become a genre in their own right. It’s because of the way they’re shown on screen that sharks have a reputation for being carnivorous killing machines, but in reality they generally only bite humans by accident. Whether you love them because they’re easy-to watch-popcorn thriller fodder or because you prefer entertainment over quality, shark films are here to stay.

Is Derren Brown's Ghost Train on the right track?

The Ghost Train is a seaside classic ride, immortalised by any one born in the 1970s as one of the classics, on par with the Waltzer, the Big Wheel and the Speedway (remember that one?). You sit down, you're secured in and you enter a dark foreboding place, driven around on a track, dangly bits of pretend cobwebs hit you in the face, groans, moans, faces that light up, demonic laughts AND I am sure at some point the staff go in and touch you, the bleeders. Then you come out of the dark and into the light saying "again, again, again", your Dad, his face now a sickening pale of white from fear barters with you "how about some Candy Floss?" and reluctantly you give in.

Forget Skeletons In the Closet, it's all about Cats Up Your Chimney Now!!

From guard cats to shoes up chimneys: how to protect your home from fairies and witches

Discovered within the wall of a house in Hertfordshire
A cat bricked up in a wall. An old shoe perched up a chimney breast. A figurine hidden in the rafters. A braid of human hair hanging in the attic. These are just some examples The Concealed Revealed Project is currently trying to catalogue and map these odd hidden items, and the numbers are reaching the thousands of the many weird, wonderful and in some instance downright disturbing objects that people have found concealed within their homes during renovations.

THE FEMALE OF THE PARANORMAL SPECIES

GHOSTBUSTERS NEEDED!!

Apparently, the South East is home to most haunted places in UK!

Celebrate the new Ghostbusters film with this ghastly guide to the most haunted hot spots in Britain. As the blockbuster returns with its all-female cast, the spookiest UK destinations have been ranked on a ‘spook scale’, indicating scare factor levels based on previous encounters with the spirits.

The study, compiled by money-saving website Voucherbox.co.uk, looked in particular at female ghosts, and the stories behind their hauntings, to reveal that the South East has the most traumatised souls in the country.
Budding Ghostbusters can seek out these female spirits, ticking off this extensive list at their own risk.

Guess what, we have a guest blogger, we are truly honoured and humbled that Christina Henry wants to write for our page. YES she wants to promote her new books, that goes without saying but this is so much better than an advert, it’s different, it’s fun, it’s fresh and it gives me the chance to have a little power nap…

Here you go Christina, the floor, the stage, the space is yours…

THE CLAWS THAT CATCH by Christina Henry, YES that’s me. A MODERN TWIST ON THE GHOST STORY?

A modern twist on the ghost story, this is what THE FORGOTTEN has been described as, haunting, chilling, horror at its most intense too. It also been described as "kitchen sink realism meets supernatural horror", we bloody love that quote, don't tell anyone but we're going to pinch it from time to time, shush though.

Now here, at Haunted Magazine, we love all things spooky and ghostly, suffice to say that we love nothing better than a good British Ghost Story. Is THE FORGOTTEN one of these, you bet your life it is.

What's also great about it is that this is the directional debut of Oliver Frampton, we caught up with the man behind THE FORGOTTEN.

Oh, and there's 3 DVDs of THE FORGOTTEN on offer too.

Something OLD, Something NEW, Something BORROWED, Something BOO!!

Bats in the attic, squeaky floorboards and GHOSTS are among the reasons house-hunters are refusing to move into old properties, according to new research.

I HEAR DEAD PEOPLE

TV and radio presenter Steve Penk has launched his third new radio station: a brand new format that just features... dead people.
Described by Penk as  a "joyous" radio station, says Penk, that honours and showcases a unique collection of artists. As the station says: "They may be gone, but their music lives on".
You can listen here: I HEAR DEAD PEOPLE
The playlist will be continually updated and currently includes David Bowie, George Martin, Glenn Frey, Paul Kantner's Jefferson Airplane, and Maurice White's Earth Wind and Fire, to name just a few who have departed from the land of the living in 2016.
The station does not have live presenters

Knock, knock, just who IS behind The Other Side of the Door?

WHAT'S BEHIND THE OTHER SIDE OF THE DOOR?

In a special interview we caught up with director Johannes Roberts about his latest film called (yes you guessed it) The Other Side of the Door, which is at the cinemas NOW!!

HM: Firstly, Johannes, thanks for taking the time to talk to us.
JR: Pleasure.
